Season 2018/2019 at the Royal Danish Opera
Robert will conduct the re-premiere of Die Fledermaus on 24 November, with performances running into 2019. There will be a live cinema relay of the show on 9 December. Later in the season will come performances of Tosca – and a popular return of the orchestra’s Christmas concerts in December. The concert on 21 December will be broadcast live on DR.
Robert is absolutely delighted to make his debut with the Athelas Ensemble, Copenhagen’s orchestra for new music, in Hans Abrahamsen’s already iconic work, Schnee. The performance will be on 2 December 2018.
In Spring 2018 Robert conducted the Danish premiere of Thomas Adès’ monumental new opera, The Exterminating Angel in the production by Tom Cairns. He also conducted performances of Verdi’s Rigoletto, and of the Puccini opera La Fanciulla del West. Another highlight was to play Messiaen’s Quatuor pour la fin du temps with wonderful musicians from the Kongelige Kapel: violinist Emma Steele, clarinettist John Kruse and cellist Kim Bak Dinesen.
A rare pleasure to play the early Piano Quintet (1903) by Ralph Vaughan Williams in the first chamber concert of the new season with players of the Royal Danish Orchestra.
